---------------------------awesome edit story by :icondarkmoonsigel:-------------------------

I have looked so long and so hard. I have traveled the roads less taken for a chance. A single chance to glimpse at the otherworldly and the forgotten. Long have I searched for the merest hint of their being.....their existence.

The off shimmer in a shaft of light.

A sweet note held too long in the wind.

The caress of magic that lingers over my worn skin.

And it is worn.....my body is tattered. The journey has not been for the faint of heart or the weak of soul. I have wandered this earth in all her sorted forms. Her cool forests I have slept in and found comfort in her roots. Her pale deserts have near flayed my skin off my bones and burned me deeper than seven layers. Her mountains I have climbed and clung to doggedly as a tick. I have done all this in hunt of rumors and snippets of half truths barely remembered and rarely told.

I have traveled this alone, because really who would have my company now? I have grown mad and lost these long years. My eyes have gained the glint of dementia and the hardness of obsession so that I am viewed with pity at best and disgust at worst. I do not care.

Let them mock the wandering fool whose sole purpose in life is to hunt figments and whose all worldly possessions rest in a single satchel. They are blind and I pity them more than they could ever revile me. I am on a mission, a life calling if you will and I am devoted.

I seek the forgotten beauty of this gray modern world filled with its souless technologies and lifeless designs. Hints of them still lie hidden in plain view for all to see in books and legends though time and human limitations have been most unkind to them.

The Shining Dancers.

The Fair Ones.

The Wee Folk.

Oh.....if....if only I could share the wonders that I see before me.....if only you could see for yourself the glamor that is hidden from mortal eyes....my paltry skill will try and ultimately fail to convey what looks back at me with eyes like the moon herself, all silver and soft glowing light.

I stand at the edge of a glen, hidden in a pocket of forest forgotten like so many other things from the minds of men. I abandon my satchel and shoes to the shore so that I can wade out into water as black as pitch and cold as winter's tears. There is no moon tonight but her presence is not needed.

They shine all on their own.

The spring from which they flow glitters like midnight dancing across inky glass. Tiny points of light are adventurous stars on holiday that float about and twirl to music I can more sense than actually hear. Each is unique and yet similar in their shine like snowflakes made of light. They make me ache with sighs of relief to look upon them.

All is forgotten when I see her though.......

She is the fairest of them all.

She is beauty and light and life and all that I have ever dared to hope and dream about. She is the answer to a promise, an old secret finally told.......my guiding star.....She is made of spun starlight and spider's silk and she moves across the water like gossamer over velvet. She draws near and I lose all sight and breathe, sinking into the shining void that is her eyes. I will give her everything and ask nothing in return.....

......because.....

How do I continue to see when I have looked upon the face of ethereal?

How do I continue breathing when I know this will all end and I will be so much less for it?

How do I live after this wonder?

I leave these questions unanswered for you to find and use as my last words, my last will, and my last testament.

"I found you." is whispered breathlessly, the words tasting of tears. They are the bittersweet blend of elation, bitterness, joy, and sorrow mingled with the crystalline essence of hope.

The tilt of a head.

A sigh.

An offered hand.

A smile.

"What took you so long?"
